One simple outreach strategy is to set up a table displaying information on your issue and encouraging people to write to the appropriate lawmaker. Earth Day events, sporting shows, or other events that promote ecology and conservation are good locations. However, the local mall or anywhere there will be heavy traffic is also appropriate. Below are some suggestions on how to set up a letter writing table.
Draft a short sample letter that people can use as a model. One or two paragraphs are sufficient. Be sure to include the lawmaker’s and the writer’s address. (Tape the sample letter to the table where it will be easily seen.) Continue reading »
