Internships

Jobs are becoming harder and harder to come by, and the current group of unemployed people is arguably the most qualified bunch yet. This makes internships even more important than ever. Another reason you may want to think about doing an internship, is because your school probably mandates that you do one in order to graduate.

Before we dive into the great websites that you can utilize to find your next internship, I just want to review a generally accepted rules regarding internships. It is generally a good practice to try and avoid programs that make you pay to join them. I am not at all discounting the work and value that these programs provide, but I don’t see how it is worth it to “buy” an internship. Taking an unpaid internship is difficult enough when most students still have some college bills to pay. Second, you might have to be willing take an unpaid internship. After all, before the interviewer is not a task at all costs to prevent you to work. Just as you do not get the problem at all costs for any job. In fact, you want to find a suitable job for themselves, and a recruitment agency – to find the right specialist for a certain job. But this is not mutually exclusive objectives – on the contrary, they complement each other perfectly! And even if you do not have a specific place, it is not a loss: it would be much worse to come to the service, you are not completely suitable, and get out of there in 2 weeks. Continue reading »

Moms at Work

The decision to reenter the workforce is never an easy one for a mother. Still, U.S. Department of Labor statistics show that the majority of mothers – a full 72 percent of us – are members of the workforce in some capacity.

Moms at Work

Other moms take time off before returning to employment. “I had a full year off after the birth of my second son,” says Ann Murray of Williamstown, N.J. “It made it a little harder to go back, because I was a full year away from the experience and network I had before.”

It doesn’t matter if working is a financial necessity or a personal preference. What does matter is that – once the decision is made – the mom must re-evaluate herself as a potential employee. Are you still marketable? Continue reading »
